Description: Each Softgel Contains: Vitamin E (165 mg. dl-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate) 200 I.U.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin which is stored in adipose tissue, liver, muscle, adrenal and pituitary glands, red blood cells and platelets, testes, and ovaries. Vitamin E is unstable to heat, light, and oxygen. The 1990 Harvard School Public Health study of nearly 40,000 male health professionals and a 1993 Nurses Health Study conducted at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston involving 87,000 women came up with the same results: Vitamin E clearly enhances heart health!
Actions: Vitamin E plays an important role in protecting the body tissues from damaging reactions caused by free-radicals, which arise from many normal metabolic functions, become energetic and unstable and will react with any other molecule to acquire another electron. Free-radicals are responsible for many types of cancer, DNA damage, and blood clots. Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant, helps prolong the life of red blood cells and plays an essential role in cellular respiration. It protects biological membranes including those found in the cardiovascular system, nerves and muscles. Vitamin E helps the body effectively use and store vitamin A and protects B-complex and vitamin C from oxidation reactions. Vitamin E has been used successfully in the therapy of progressive neuromuscular disease in children with liver and bile dysfunction. It is a vasodilator and plays an important role in intermittent claudication, thrombotic disease, immune function, protection of lipoproteins from oxidation, cardiovascular disease prevention, cancer prevention, and helps protect against environmental pollutants and cigarette smoke. Vitamin E is important for fertility, helps prevent: muscle degeneration, encephalomalacia and exudative diathesis is thought to reduce the risk of prostate cancer is an anticoagulant and improves capillary permeability.
